Surface Water Source

Because we are the first commercial or municipal user of our surface water source the Soque River, the City has developed a Water Conservation Plan and is committed to preserving and conserving this natural resource for our downstream users. City management promotes education programs to inform customers of the importance of conserving water and what they can do to aid in this effort.

The City’s Water Treatment Plant in the northern portion of the City, currently filters and pumps 17 hours per day to deliver an average of approximately 700,000 gallons per day of finished water. The plant should be fully capable of satisfying the water supply needs of the City for many future years unless a major new water-using industry is added to the customer base.
