Storage

Raw (unfiltered) water is pumped from the Soque River and stored in our 6 million gallon capacity reservoir located at the Water Treatment Facility. This water is gravity fed into the plant for treatment and placed in our 143,000 gallon clearwell. This water is pumped into the distribution system as needed to fill the four elevated water tanks. These tanks have a combined useable storage capacity of 1 million gallons. This reserve allows pumps to be turned on manually or remotely as needed for firefighting and other emergency situations. The tanks also provide water supplies during nighttime hours, while the treatment plant is not in operation. During periods of high system demand, the elevated storage reserves are drawn down to maintain system pressures and to supplement plant production and pumping capacity.
