Water Quality

The City of Clarkesville conducts more than 1,000 laboratory tests for more than 80 drinking water parameters each year. These samples are collected by plant operators from the distribution system on a regular basis as required by the Georgia Drinking Water Act 391-3-5-25. An independent laboratory, certified by the EPD, conducts analysis for some of these tests and the State laboratory conducts others. The plant operators conduct real time, continuous water quality testing at the plant as required by the EPD and record the results on a daily log to ensure public safety.

This information is published and made available to the public yearly through its Consumer Confidence Report which is available upon request at our City Hall or click here. Copies are also posted at our Regional Library and Post Office. The Consumer Confidence Report provides our customers with information on where your water comes from, what it contains, and how it compares to standards set by regulatory agencies. Our employees are committed to providing safe, dependable tap water on a year round basis for all domestic, commercial, and industrial customers. All water system related issues are often discussed at Clarkesville City Council meetings which are scheduled for the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Participation and comments are always welcome at the meetings.
