Distribution System

The city’s water distribution system has evolved over a period of many years, and is a network of interconnected pipes ranging from 2-inch to 12-inches in diameter. There is no main trunk line or water supply loop serving the City. The system serves approximately 5500 customers through pipe materials that include 9.2 miles of ductile iron, 58.5 miles of polyvinyl chloride, and .4 miles of cast iron. The distribution system serves essentially all of the incorporated area of the City as well as developing wholesale basis to the Habersham County Water Authority for resale to its customers.

Management vigorously pursues the maintenance, repair, and replacement of water distribution lines to minimize leaks and line breaks. Only high quality materials and construction methods are used in order to provide plentiful high quality water to current and potential future customers and to provide downstream users with sufficient quality water.
