Water Conservation

Conserving existing supply and demand reduction is the best approach to water availability. The city shall promote water conservation through public education and awareness of our conservation plan. This information will be provided by City Hall through use of public media (newspaper, radio, television, and public notice), which should reach Clarkesville’s customers.

The City of Clarkesville personnel routinely present information on the Clarkesville Water System, with emphasis on water conservation, to local civic organizations, youth groups and school classes. The City also encourages and sponsors tours of the water treatment plant for these groups. The city works closely with local environmental organizations, notably the Upper Chattahoochee River Keeper and the Soque River Watershed Association, on programs to protect and conserve our water resources.
