The Clarkesville-Habersham County Library contains more than 40,000 items. Its Heritage Room houses a large collection of local and Georgia history and genealogy, and focuses on Habersham County and the northward migration path. Assistance in family research is available from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday. The library is a member of GA PINES (Georgia Library Public Information Network for Electronic Services), a centralized automated system that allows Georgia citizens to share resources with 225 libraries statewide. PINES provides 800,000 users access to more than 2,000,000 library items. Any Georgia resident may obtain a library card free of charge. The library has computers with access to the Internet, Microsoft Excel, Publisher, Word, educational software for children and more. There is one computer in Spanish. Books, videos, audio tapes and CDs may be checked out for two weeks. Additional services for which there are charges include photocopying, faxing and laminating. Conference rooms are available by reservation for civic or church groups, business meetings, seminars, workshops, government agencies, nonprofit agencies, clubs and conferences. A small utilities fee is required of most groups. Used books are for sale from 9:00-12:00 on Saturdays. IRS forms are available. |
