The City of Clarkesville acquired the property after the death of Mary Mauldin, and completely refurbished the house and millinery shop. Historic Big Holly Cabin, the Haywood-English family home, was located originally on Ga. Hwy. 115, and was moved to its present site when widening of the highway threatened its location there. The Mauldin House serves as the Habersham Chamber of Commerce Historic Welcome Center. The Millinery Shop and Big Holly Cabin are museums for the mountain heritage of the area. The city maintains the beautiful cottage gardens surrounding all. back to walking tour sketches |
